Monsoon FireAPS has a small gift hiding in the calendar. Labor Day—Monday, September 7—is an all-day off-peak holiday for customers on qualifying time-of-use plans.
For kiln people, that is useful. A firing does not care that the expensive weekday window normally begins at 4 p.m.; it cares about temperature, timing, and finishing the cycle safely. An off-peak holiday gives us more room to run through the afternoon without the usual 4–7 p.m. rate jump.
So we are putting out a feeler. If enough safe, ready-to-fire work lines up, the holiday could be perfect for multiple fast firings—or for a specialty firing that makes sense to group together. We cannot promise every schedule or every firing, but this is exactly the kind of day when an interesting little cluster of work can become practical.
If you have something in mind, start a firing plan and tell us the cone, clay and glaze, approximate size, quantity, and timing. We will see what groups together safely and sensibly.
If APS is not your energy provider, or you are on a different kind of plan, check your provider’s holiday rules. Off-peak treatment varies, and fixed-rate plans do not get the same calendar change.
